Cellular communication through extracellular vesicles and lipid droplets

چکیده

Abstract Cellular communication is essential for effective coordination of biological processes. One major form intercellular occurs via the release extracellular vesicles (EVs). These mediate through transfer their cargo and are actively explored role in various diseases potential therapeutic diagnostic applications. Conversely, lipid droplets (LDs) that within cells. Lipid play roles evidence ability to between cells emerging. To date, there has been little interdisciplinary research looking at similarities interactions these two classes small vesicles. This review will compare commonalities differences EVs LDs including biogenesis secretion, isolation characterisation methodologies, composition, general heterogeneity discuss challenges opportunities both fields.

Lipid droplets and cellular lipid metabolism.

Among organelles, lipid droplets (LDs) uniquely constitute a hydrophobic phase in the aqueous environment of the cytosol. Their hydrophobic core of neutral lipids stores metabolic energy and membrane components, making LDs hubs for lipid metabolism. In addition, LDs are implicated in a number of other cellular functions, ranging from protein storage and degradation to viral replication. These p...

Extracellular vesicles: communication, coercion, and conditioning

Cells communicate with neighboring cells and condition their local environment by secreting soluble factors into the extracellular space. These well-studied facets of cell biology are essential for the establishment and maintenance of physiological homeostasis. However, accumulating evidence has revealed that specific ligands, enzymes, and macromolecules are distributed into the extracellular s...

Parasite Extracellular Vesicles: Mediators of Intercellular Communication

The 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine recognized pioneering research on secretion of proteins outside the cell and the delivery of selected cargo to specific intracellular compartments via secretory vesicles. This seminal work, performed in yeast and mammalian cells, defined multiple vital roles vesicles play in cellular physiology. Recent studies have revealed the critical role of ves...

EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES AND THEIR THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS: A REVIEW

Background & Aims: Extracellular vesicles are double phospholipid layer vesicles releasing from several cells.  These particles contain bio-molecules including mRNA, miRNA, DNA, proteins, and lipids which play a pivotal role in the cell to cell communication. Once delivered, they participate to change target cell function, fate, morphology, differentiation, and growth. The present study is a re...

Lipid Droplets as Signaling Platforms Linking Metabolic and Cellular Functions

The main cells of the adipose tissue of animals, adipocytes, are characterized by the presence of large cytosolic lipid droplets (LDs), which store triglyceride (TG) and cholesterol. However, most cells have LDs and the ability to store lipids. LDs have a well-known central role in storage and provision of fatty acids and cholesterol. However, the complexity of the regulation of lipid metabolis...
